Restaurants
There are thousands of restaurants around Greece. They are usually outdoor dining under umbrellas on the seaside, in the local town square and just about any other place tables and chairs can be placed.
You will find most of them will serve traditional Greek Cuisine with some variations in the menu.
There are the occasional restaurants serving other cuisines from around the world but these are not as prevalent.
Be wary about the waiters bringing bread to the table that you will be charged for as well as other little offerings and always look at the menu and prices before selecting your dishes. Greek waiters can be very charming and tell you that they will arrange a wonderful meal for you but this could come at a huge price.
Nearly all restaurants display their menus at the front.
Places like the Plaka in Athens and seaside dining in some of the more popular beach fronts will be more expensive than an eatery two streets back.
There is not a strong tradition to tip in Greece but it is welcomed if the service has been worthy and 10-15 per cent is standard.
