Itinerary may vary slightly depending on the preferences of the group.

Day 1: Athens - Saturday 15 June 2024
  • Arrive in Athens, and check into the 4 Star Amalia Hotel.
  • Relax and unwind or spend the afternoon exploring the city centre of Athens.
  • Meet and Greet Dinner.
  • Welcome dinner and drinks.
Day 2: Athens - Sunday 16 June 2024
  • Today we visit our first Cultural UNESCO World Heritage Site THE ACROPOLIS.  Here we spend the morning walking up to the Acropolis  and begin a guided tour of the spectacular archeological site with a 360 degree view of Athens.
  • Explore more of the city at your leisure and enjoy lunch at a location of your choice.
  • Re-join the tour as we visit the Acropolis Museum.

Day 3: Athens Monday 17 June 2024
  • Today is free time to explore Athens.  You could head  down to the Greek Parliament where you can watch the changing of the National Guard. A special unit of the Hellenic Army, also known as Tsoliades, who guard the Monument of the Unknown Soldier in front of the Hellenic Parliament and the Presidential Mansion put on a great display.
  • You can  then venture down to the modern Olympic Stadium – the PANATHEIAC Stadium for a self-guided audio headset tour.
  • Explore more of city at your leisure.

Optional Activities

  • Stroll along Panepistimiou Street to take in the amazing architecture of the three neoclassical buildings, which include ancient Greek, Roman and Renaissance elements.  They are the University, the National Library of Greece and the Academy of Athens and are well known for their architecture.
  • Visit the Botanical Gardens located across the road from the hotel.
Day 4: Athens - Tuesday 18 June 2024
  • Explore the Plaka
  • Locally guided Food Tour, lots of taste testing including two meals. This is where we learn about the traditional food in hidden spots in Athens.
  • Plenty of time to shop and pick up souvenirs and venture around to enjoy the hustle and bustle of the busy shopping and dining precinct.

  • Visit the Benizelos Mansion – The oldest house in Athens tells a story of the life of Athenian aristocrats before the Greek revolution and paints a picture of their traditions and habits.

Day 5: Athens to Syros - Wednesday 19 June 2024
  • Depart Athens and take the ferry to  the Aegean Island of Tinos
  • We will  spend a half day at Tinos,  which is renowned for being a major tourist and religious location for Orthodox Greeks. Every year, thousands of pilgrims come to the island for the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. During this pilgrimage, people walk on their knees to the Church of Panagia Evangelistria from the Port. We will have time to explore the port also.
  • We will then take a short ferry ride to neighbouring prosperous Syros Island. We will be staying at Dolphin Cove on the other side of the island from the arrival port. Take time to unwind and spend time at Galissas Beach – a short stroll at the bottom of the hill. Enjoy the beautiful water front with alfresco dining and coffee options.

Day 6: Syros - Thursday 20 June 2024
  • We will spend the morning exploring the Catholic fortified medieval village of Anos. Every turn is a picture. At the top of this village is the Catholic Church of St George.
  • We then head to at Vari Beach for a swim relax and choose your own lunch location from a number of eateries along the beach front.
  • In the afternoon we return to Dolphin Cove and prepare to spend the evening at the main port town of Syros called Ermopoulis to discover and walk the marbled back streets and alleyways and eateries. Visit the town square, the museums and enjoy the Byzantine architecture.
  • Take a stroll along the picturesque waterfront at sunset.

Day 7: Depart Syros for Nafpaktos - Friday 21 June 2024
  • Depart Syros by ferry for the 3-hour ferry trip to Athens.
  • This will largely be a travel day.
  •  Once back on the mainland, we drive 2 hours and 40 minutes to Nafpaktos through the Peloponnese countryside and coastal highway and across amazing Rion Antirion Bridge.
  • Along the way we will take a break at the Corinthian Canal.  A Great opportunity for a coffee break and take photos of the amazing man made shipping canal used by cargo ships.
  • The evening is yours to take time to unwind and discover at your leisure, the town of Nafpaktos.
  • Relax at one of the many alfresco dining and coffee options or cool off with a dip in the clear waters of the picturesque Corinthian Gulf.

Day 8: Nafpaktos - Saturday 22 June 2024
  • Visit the Island of Trizonia, in the Corinthian Gulf.  The island has a population of 65 people and does not have cars, the locals walk everywhere.
  • Lunch and swimming at the local beaches
  • In the afternoon, we head back to Nafpaktos taking a detour to the seaside village of Marathias and then the mountain top village of Klima, where you feel like you are on top to the world.

Day 9: Nafpaktos - Sunday 23 June 2024
  • Bus trip to Delphi
  • Today we take a day trip to Delphi and have a guided tour of the UNESCO World Heritage site.  We then visit the museum to view the extensive artifacts unearthed during excavation at the Delphi oracle and it’s surrounds.
  • Next stop is the very quaint ski village of Arachova for lunch.
  • We return to Nafpaktos the afternoon/evening is for you to relax and explore at your leisure.

Day 10: Nafpaktos - Monday 24 June 2024
  • Today we will have a day touring the small villages around Nafpaktos to see the day to day life of villagers.
  • We visit a women’s monastery.
  • Today we would also like to show you a little about the history of our background.  Showing you the villages that are connected to our family.
  • We will stop in the quaint village of Efpalion for a morning tea break.
  • Head to the village called Magoula to see where our grandparents and father once lived, visiting their traditional house in the village.  This house once protected many Greeks from the Germans in World War 2.
  • We then visit Monastiraki , the village where our father was born.  A small quaint fishing village.
  • After a short break back in Nafpaktos, the group will have dinner and live Greek music during this Cultural Dance Festival week.

Day 11: Nafpaktos - Tuesday 25 June 2024
  • Today is a day of free time to explore the gorgeous seaside town of Nafpkatos
  • Enjoy lunch in one of the many cafes

Day 12: Olympia - Wednesday 26 June 2024
  • Bus to Olympia
  • Travel to the Peloponnese to the pine forests of Olympia. We will have a guided tour of the UNESCO World heritage site of the original Olympic Games.
  • We will also visit the museum.
  • We will travel to the outskirts of the town of Kyparissia and enjoy the afternoon at our resort accommodation.

Day 13: Olympia to Gytheio Thursday 27 June 2024
  • Check out of hotel for the next destination Gytheio.
  • We make our way to the seaside town of Gythio and check into our accommodation and visit the nearby castle.
  • Free time once you are settled in  to explore the town, eateries and seaside.

Day 14: Gytheio - Friday 28 June 2024
  • Departing after breakfast, we will explore Monemvasia. Founded in the sixth century, and one of the oldest continually-inhabited fortified towns in Europe.

Day 15: Gytheio to Athens - Saturday 29 June 2024
  • After another leisurely morning, we check out of our accommodation and take a lunch break in Nafplion.
  • Here you can walk along Arvanitia promenade, with its view of the Argolic Gulf. Begin at the waterfront and end up, after about 1km, at Arvanitias Square. The whole time, you’ll be walking beneath the rock of Akronafplio and you’ll also come across the pretty little chapel of Panagia tis Spilia (Virgin Mary of the Cave), the Santa Maria Grotta of the Venetians before returning to Athens.
